Liberal or Conservative?

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and had grown to be in strong favor for the distribution of all wealth in America. She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, which he expressed openly.

 

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich, and more welfare programs. In the middle of her heart felt diatribe based upon the lectures she had from her far left professors, he stopped her and asked point blank how she was doing in school.She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. She said she had to study all the time and had no social life as a result.

 

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary?" She replied that Mary was barely getting by with a 2.0 GPA, and added that she takes easy classes, never studies and parties all the time. She misses classes because of being hung over and sleeping late.

 

Her father asked, "Why don't you go the Dean's office and ask them to deduct a 1.0 off of your 4.0 GPA, and give it to Mary. That way you'd both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

 

The daughter, visibly shocked by the suggestion angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for my grades while Mary has done little or nothing!"

 

Her father slowly smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

On the way out of the room, the maid stopped her and said "You know, I have an IQ of 176 but I never attended college because I was raped when I was 16, I fell pregnant as a result and couldn't terminate my pregnancy because the Republicans had closed down the only abortion clinic in town. The only way I could raise my little girl was to attend a workfare program that kept me away from school and away away from my baby for 11 hours a day". I finally got off the program when I started to work for your daddy but I should be doing so much more with my life.

The young lady changed her politics twice that day.
