The problem isn't limited to a high street presence - no business will survuve if it's model isn't flexible to reflect changing consumer habits or the inability to predict them in time to adapt to change.

 

On the other hand, some company's business models are simply absurd - look at the numerous dot.com failures as a good example.

The problem with Tiny was the reputation that they picked up for building overpriced unreliable PC's from the cheapest possible parts.

 

The next one to go will be Morgan. They advertise themselves as the KwickSave of the PC marketplace with end of line gear stacked high and sold cheap. In actuallity, most of the stuff that they sell can be had cheaper without even going on the net. I saved 40 quid on the price of a Freecom external hard drive by bying it from PCWorld instead of Morgans. I could have saved more but I didn't fancy buying a HDD only to have it bounced arround in a Parcelforce office.

Like the man said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time..........."
