Who gives a monkey's

Blackpool

Recommended Posts

On 20th September 2003 my wife gave birth to twins, two lovely little boys, Jack & Harvey, 11 weeks premature, At two days old Jack had a very serious bleed to his brain & his left lung started to fail..This was all due to being premature, He was rushed from Blackpool Victoria Hospital to Alderhay at Liverpool, Jack had several operations including his left lobe being removed from his lung and a shunt fitted to his brain, This drains the fluid from his head and controls the pressure around his brain, Due to the bleeding his ventricles are damaged and the shunt is his life-saver, Jack is now 9mths old and he still has several hospital appointments every week, On the 7th June jack had a appointment at Alderhay Hospital the doctors stressed that Jack must have a M.R.I Scan as soon as possible as worries are Jacks scull bones may have fused together too soon and this is a sign jacks brain is not growing..Thus the M.R.I Scan will show much needed details. The Doctors and specialists at Alderhay Hospital told us this must be done as soon as possible…

On the 15th June Jack had to go to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to see the paediatrician, On this appointment we was informed she had received correspondence notes from Alderhay and a M.R.I Scan to be done a.s.a.p, Also on this appointment Jack was diagnosed with possible cerebral palsy. This is also due to the bleed he had to his brain. We have been told the extent of the damage to Jacks brain will be clearer when we get the M.R.I Scan.

Blackpool Victoria Hospital have a nice brand new M.R.I Scanner unit donated by the people of Blackpool ( charity fund raising ) e.c.t, In fact only a few weeks ago it was front page news that the new M.R.I Scanner was used to give a urgent scan to a gorilla from the local zoo – yes a gorilla from the zoo,

We have now been informed by Blackpool Victoria Hospital that jack must go on the waiting list at Alderhay Hospital to have his M.R.I Scan & the appointments dept have informed us this could take several weeks as the waiting list is so large,

This is partly due to Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s policies not to use the M.R.I scanner for children? But to send them to Liverpool.

I have been informed by Jacks paediatrician the decision not to use the M.R.I scanner for children at Blackpool is that of The Chief Executive of the hospital Mr Roy Mail, I have tried several times to contact Mr Mail by phone and letter but as yet I have had no response as to why is my son or any other child denied much needed access to the M.R.I scanner at Blackpool Hospital, I hope the Gorilla from the zoo made a speedy recovery,

It would seem that care has taken second place to publicity - I would love to meet Mr. Mail personally, just to tell ar**holes like him are one of the reasons the NHS is going downhill.

By the way you should put it in Blackpool's local paper, after all that scanner was bought by THE PEOPLE for THE PEOPLE!

i agree with the above, go for maximum publicity to embaress the hospital, and Mr Mail (who should be sacked for making that decision) im sure the people of blackpool would be annoyed that animals take preferance over children, since their hard work of raising money for the scanner.

good luck

Non-executive Directors

Non-executive directors (including the Chairman) are not full time NHS employees. They are people who live or work in Blackpool, Fylde or Wyre and have shown a keen interest in helping to improve healthcare for local people. Their presence on the Board helps to ensure that the Trust works in the best interests of the people it serves
