Nice one Steve. Will be following your series very closely :) I "dabble" in CS4 but have so much still to learn. I have been trying to get into "layers" lately but the book I am following is pants!!!! I look forward to your layers lesson

Cracking work Steve.

As you know, I used to be a paper maker with an interest in digital imaging, although not a great photographer. I've been using PS for around 12 years, but it can't hide the vagaries of a crap lens!

This is probably the most user-friendly piece about Photoshop and it's applications I've come across.

I found myself eating my own words so often I got indigestion...'I bet he hasn't covered....' Oh, yes you have!

I've just spent some money on an Olypmus E3 with 14 - 42mm and 70 - 300mm lenses, and am saving hard for a decent macro lens. I bought the set up on the basis of research and recommendation as much as anything. Once I've learned how to 'drive' it, I may astart putting up some pics for public consumption and critique, but need to find a decent hosting site first. Any suggestions?

Once again - thanks for a great piece, Steve.

Thank you Alan, like you I have been using Photoshop for many years (since PS4 I think) and have written articles before on it, but this is quite a massive undertaking...and should not be considered the be all and end all of articles...one person could never cover Photoshop in words anyway.

Alan said "Once I've learned how to 'drive' it", I say "Get out and about, point it at things and press the shutter button lots and lots"

For image hosting its hard to beat Photobucket for ease of use and convenience http://photobucket.com/ there are of course many many others, but this will be enough to get you started. Get some pics posted asap Alan...and we can help you to drive that thing. ;)

Thanks Steve...

I was mucking about (with 'L-Plates' on) on the way home last night.... memo to self, try taking pics in daylight and the viewfinder adjusted to your glasses first!
