What Fish Is It?

I was fishing in TUNNEL BARN FARM, SHREWLY when a guy came around and asked if i had caught any submarines. I thought he was joking at first, thinking of the submarine submarine, then realised he was serious, i just said no as i thougt i would look stupid if i said 'whats a submarine'.

Anythoughts on the submarines?

there are loads of pools. The canal is my favorite. The island is 7m so pole or rod float fishing right out at the island try the freezied cat meat on a size 12 - 14 or hair rigged as it is quite mushy and hard to hook. at th island it is about 2 ft deep.

 

In the bottom pool pellets on a size 12 hook either out near the island or inbetween some of the islands. I only use float and once used a legered weight with a piece of cheese and caught a 13lbs carp, but have never tryed it again as go to the canal pool now.

This is a bit of a stupid quesion but i need to know, what is the strongest elastic u can put in a pole. and has anyone fished shrewly lakes fishery.

To be specific, it needs to be your wife's knicker elastic, not your girlfriends - which tends to have far more give! The reasoning is that whilst your wife gets her knickers from marks and Spencer, your girlfriend gets hers from Ann Summers.

 

I've heard of of higher elastic rating than 20. However, I'm not a pole user, so I can only comment based upon what I've learned from others.

I Reckon you could double up on 22 elastic, although you would need a scaffold pole (not very practical ) might just stop a double figure barbel. Not a chance of stopping a real submarine though, your elastic would end up somewhere near the Baltic. I fish at a lake used by a boat club they have remote subs with cameras attached so they can see under water remotely.

Large catfish remind me of what I imagine it would be like hooking a submarine. They pick a direction and go that way at a deliberate speed. Trying to stop or suddenly turn the fish will result in something breaking.

I have to ask, why did you feel embarrassed asking the bloke what a submarine is, only to come in here and ask what a submarine is??

 

It appears you've embarrassed yourself to some degree anyway and you're no further forward than you were.
