He was so good that years after his death, Jim Taberet built a TV and film career on repeating the same jokes and delivery.

Barrymore was the same. Copied everything that John Clease ever did - but said "Awiet, awiet" every thirty seconds.

 

At least Taberet's act is funny.

Go hire a vid/DVD and see for yourself the true comic genius!

My current fav is Jethro, and I could quite easily spend the next night tapping in his jokes -so here's one - 'for the road':-

There are times in your life when you have to relax and let go of the worries and stress of everyday living.

I was having one of my regular ‘contemplation’s’ just the other night,

I was thinking of god’s wonderful world and all the things we today take so much for granted,

I looked up at the night sky and it was truly beautiful,

It was as if the good lord himself had sprinkled diamonds upon a veil of crumpled velvet, the stars were so bright and the night so dark.

I looked up & I said, Ahh...

I had a weird time watching Jethro "Live" not long ago...for some reason I had started to see double when tired and towards the end of his show I could see two of the shortassed buggers on the stage!!!!!!!!!

 

 

Tommy Cooper gets the top vote for me, though for some reason my English D in law doesn't think he is at all funny!!!!!!!!!!

 

If you cant laugh at him then you definitely got no sense of humour..
