Just had my medicinal red wine and am tucking into the last stumpie in the fridge. All is not lost though, just bunged in 16 cans of Miller to cool down. They are not all for me mind the good lady will have some.

So its looking like Dr Who followed by the lottery then a dvd and loads of beer.

Anybody else pushing the boat out like me!

onions, red wine should breathe for about 30 minutes, an hour max, otherwise it starts to oxidise. and it is worth remembering to open it before you want to drink it. how do you resist drinking it while its breathing?? i find a couple of gin and tonics help distract me!

I've just had a big plateful of mussels with garlic butter; opened a bottle of Merlot, very nice, going off to nuke a steak quite soon now and finish of the Merlot.

I do have it rare, but the pan will be heating for a good five minutes first, couple of minutes each side and a quick deglaze with some vino.
