Thought Worms and others might like this.

A new book by Graham Turner gives details of a level-wind, multiplier with a check, produced by a British maker (with the unlikely name of Onesimus Ustonson) in 1760.

That was exactly a hundred years before the grant of a level-wind patent to Mark S Palmer of New Bedford in 1860!

Worms - when are you going to start on a replica? :)

I think a new sea reel is a priority! Once I've finished the Pattern 9 copy (been a bit busy recently) A billet aluminium 2 speed lever drag multiplier might be next....................or an Avet MXL!

Might be nice to see some pics though, just in case I have a bit of spare time over christmas :D

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!
