There were some headlamps at the CLA Gamefair for a Fiver.

3 AAA batteries, 2 options, LEDs or halogen?

Press the button once for a spotlight, press it again for floodlight(LEDs), press it again to switch it off.

They were selling loads of them, but didn't know why.

They might be at the Midland Gamefair (Weston Park) in the next couple of weeks.

Steve i brought a 4led headlamp from woolworths for £199 mate, its only a basic model but its a simple on/off switch and it does the job to perfection, the actual lens/leds swivel in the body of the lamp and you can move them with one finger.

Thanks, Jim, although I specifically want one without the halogen option. I'd rather keep my eyes dark-adapted. However for this reason a red filter like in some of the Petzl models looks interesting.

Who's going to come up to you in the dark and say "hey you look like a Dalek"?

Nowt wrong with the ones I use, took mine off the head strap and clip it on to my cap.

 

Now spose the cap makes me look like a Chav.

They took my pass off me last time i came over mate, told me never to darken the eastern area of the midlands again

 

I've got plans but at the moment thats all they are, trying to sort things out cos there's an old timer (not as old as you though )over that way i want to get over to see, if and when i can arrange it i'll let you know and we can meet up
