mm well I catch Pike and have never seen one other than frozen!

I've seen them spawning in a Thames side stream, it was fascinating to see them moving stones to create a little depression to spawn in!

Any reference sites where I might be able to identify a fish, please?

It was about four inches long, silver/white belly, almost black, dark grey back, white & black eyes, thin just like an eel, but it was a fish, tube like but definitely a fish. Caught on the Broads, slightly brackish water. Any ideas?

Fifteen spined stickleback?

Although it says they are wholly marine I thought they entered brackish water as well!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

They definitely go into brackish water. In fact, I'd even say they'll go into fresh water. The Dreel Burn in Anstruther, Fife had/has? 15 spined Sticklebacks in it, well beyond the salt water mark, along with loads of miniscule flatties, blennies, brown trout, 3 spined sticklebacks, minnows etc.

Nope, deffo not one of those. Standard fish head and tail, elongated body in between. If it were a whiting or a cod I would call it a slinkey. Dace like, apart from the colour of the eyes, its length to height rationand with no hump on its back, or gut beneath.

It was like no other fish that I have ever seen. Certainly didn't look like an exotic.

Did it look like this?
