Of course European Beavers can build dams - although they only do so when the water is not deep enough for their liking.

 

Decancel that DIY Guy Fawkes kit Ziggy, we are still in business.

 

If you could handle a "Guy" called Tony Abbot we could provide him. He would look good on the top of a bonfire - trouble is, we are not allowed to have bonfires here, they say it is because of the danger of bushfires, but I suspect the politicians are afraid of being chucked onto them. Aussies do tend to be extremely practical at times!

 

Actually Vags, after what the Great Ouse River Authority did to the Upper Ouse, a few beavers up there might have done the world of good. They would have been working on improving the river all day rather than just the few hours at weekends I could manage. Their dams would have stopped the canoeists too!

 

Talking of the Upper Ouse, I wonder how many people realise that this August 3rd is the 25th anniversary of Dick Walker's death.
