Barbel questions

6-8lb hook link in mono for me most of the time but I only usually get to fish quite open stretchs on the bigger rivers.

My barbel river is quite the opposite, narrow, very winding and very snaggy. Only one line for me and that is Fox Illusion in 10lb usually right to the hook. Sinks like a stone and is very tough but probably the reason for needing a new tip ring
