Ghost Carp

I have heard of a big ghost carp that lives in my local canal. Whats the best way to target them?

Also it lives under a big willow type tree so I can't cast right where I want, so does bringing to the side work?

Ghost carp I don't beleive in them.

 

If you do try and borrow a small boat and approach from another angle. Or get a good pole.

How wide is the canal where you are fishing? Can you not use a pole and polecup to place the bait and end tackles where you want them?

I just got back from fishing it.I do not own a pole so I ledger sweetcorn. I did hook a big white fish but it got away However I did catch a big cray-fish

The canal is, ooh about 9-10m wide. The canal in guestion is the Oxford Canal at Wolvercote, Oxford.

As for the cating I do a extremely careful underhand cast.

MK - you might try putting your rig in a PVA bag with a stone for weight. Should allow you to chunk it back under the tree.

If you want to try a pole down there some time give me a shout and I will pop down and fish it with you.

put it all in a pva bag and catapult it under the tree, also a good idea when theres no room to cast

I have caught ghost and koi carp befor in my local pond. i suggest lots and lots of sweetcorn! There is no carp that wont go for a lot of sweetcorn falling through the water. I will be sure to bring him out from those hiding places.

I don't really think a PVA bag would work as I fish a simple 1/4 oz bomb with a middy ledger stop 3 inches from the hook, my hook is a size 10/12 Kamasan B981 barbless. I fish either single or double sweetcorn. Simple huh Oh and any advice on avoiding crayfish would be much appreciated. As I said earlier I caught a big un`
