Two Years On My Wagon....

Elton

Recommended Posts

Yay! Today is the second anniversary of my decision to give up the booze. To be honest, I haven't fancied a beer for ages now. There's the odd occasion when I think it wouldn't harm, but I've never been foaming at the mouth for one.

Considering how much I was packing away two years ago, I'm quite pleased with myself :)

been almost that since i gave up fags but i found it easier to give up booze.

i still keep some in the fridge for a reward and take some camping for sitting outside being nosey but compared to my youth when i came home wrecked almost every night its certainly better on the pocket ,i buy it when its marked down to 40p a can at my local sainsburies and stock pile it ,not fussed what it is as i drink it now for the fizz rather than the alcohol.

fags were more difficult but surprisingly easier than i imagined ,i miss them also as a reward for a job well done but unlike booze i dare not stockpile them for later use

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

I find that the only time I feel "lost" without a fag in my hand is when I'm fishing!

The two things that keep me off the baccy are

1 Being able to breathe properly and not coughing my guts up every morning!

2 The smell of other peoples smoke - did I really smell that bad?

Good on ya Elton !

Same here matey.....2 years , no booze & no smokes!

Getting done drink driving helped me stop,

as did living in a garage, then a tent whilst running a computer repair business

via trains and push bikes whilst serving the ban !

Here's a handy little book for peeps wanting to give up smoking ...easily

Cheers, guys :)

I am 100% happier and healthier than I was this time two years back. The energy I have now, compared to back then, is incredible, despite my kids doing their best to zap it all :)

I wouldn't ever preach to anyone about what to do in their life and wish I could do the 'all things in moderation' thing, but I'm fairly 'all or nothing' and there have been a few alcoholics in my family, so the potential was always there. This way, I know I'm safe :) If anyone else is ever thinking of giving up drink or fags and finding it hard, all I'd say is that it can be worth it if you can see it through, so good luck to you.
