Hi Chris, next time you go out on the tackle boardwalk make sure that you carry your single Okuma reel in a blue plastic Shakespeare tackle box, that'll really slay 'em. For the hight of inverse snobbery better go for carp gear from Argos, or even Badger, but the latter might be taking things to far! Tackle tarts, don't you just love 'em!

Just given the Okuma Genic a good work with carp and tench fantastic reel faultless smooth operation, imaculate line lay, good clutch. Reel used in conjunction with the 17ft CarbonActive what a rod.

Interesting thread. We seem to be hearing more and more good reports on these reels. Does anyone know what the spares and repairs situation is like in the UK?

Havent looked into spares and stuff but one thing I can tell you is that the spools from one type of Okuma reel very often fit another.I have the Metaloid and the Force and I can now use 2 reels with very different retrieves and very different line capacities.This gives me 4 different spools to use if I take 1 or 2 rods on outings with me and allows for wider species/location coverage.The higher retrieve with the match spool was very good for sorting line drift and lifting into fish.
