Well, I don't doubt you'll catch with that - personally I like to watch a float when tenching - my set-up probably couldn't be much further removed from yours, namely:

Harrison 15'GTI, Centrepin armed with 6lb Fireline, Quill float, Size 12 Drennan spade end tied to 4lb silkworm (weedy lake!), fishing cockle/maggot cocktail in the margins. Call me and old f*** but it's produced 22, 5lb+ tench since June 16th. :D

Is it just me - and I'm definitely not trying to have a dig at you, ross :) - but isn't it a sort of sign of the times that someone knows about hair rigs, method feeders, hooklinks, boilies and exact size of boilies in mm, Baitrunners and so on but is unclear how to plumb a swim or set up a float?

Let me just re-iterate that this is not aimed personally at ross...please don't be offended by my point...it's just supposed to be a general one about the sport.

When i say i can`t plumb the depth,i mean i can`t seem to set it right i.e to fish over depth,or just off the bottom & placing the shot etc.

Setting the feeder up is easy as theres plenty of info in the angling press on these methods due to most of the features are aimed towards carp fishing.

My true love is fly fishing so coarse fishing is something new to me,I only bought a float rod a couple of months back.

So no offence taken all i need is to be shown how to sent up the float corectly.

rossturner31 - First off, welcome to the bbs.

Sorry I can't help you with this one but my plumbing is all done with echo sounders so I am useless re: manual methods for doing it.

I think if you go to http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/ and look at the carp clinic section, you can find an email address to send questions.

Gaffer should be able to post a nice bit about plumbing and then casting back to the spot you plumbed.

There may even be an article (see the articles section at the same link) on it but I am way too lazy to look for one right now. :)
