2 ounce (approx 57grm) 671ft 6" (204 mtrs) with a centerpin and a stick rod in black and white days ,not a lot more for top of the range tackle and 3 times the weight today

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

I have always thought that the American claim to have cast over 200yds in the 1950's was a misprint...........probably "over 200 FEET"

I don't think anyone has ever done 200yds with a centrepin. I stand to be corrected though :)

I thought that would be the answer :) :)

There was/is a claim being repeated of an american casting over 200yds in the 1930's, this is the one I seriously doubt :)

I used to cast with a guy (the first Sec and one of the founders of the UKSF) and he was sponsored by the importers of Alvey side casters. Never saw him hit 200, but he def got a few around the 180 mark. Of course, he may have improved after I left the casting scene...............

I do all of my fishing from boats so have no casting experience. How do you guys know how far a cast is - is it guesswork based on experience or is there a method?.

Thanks
