I'm not going to get into a discussion on the rights or wrongs but.....It just so happens that on one river I fish, one pool, the approach to it and the tail have always proved one of the best spots on the river for bigger fish.........It's right under a railway bridge that's been there over 100 years!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Its a real shame when an area of outstanding beauty is taken away , ive experienced it happen at the back of my land , i used to be able to walk throu woodland to a marshland area with a little stream running throu it , its what was left from an ancient lake and so lovely and peacefull , it was where my dad first showed me some fishing basics and i caught minnows and sticklebacks and the occasional small roach ,there were also newts and other wildlife to admire and it was a really special place.

Then the government wanted to build a slip road to join east grinstead and copthorne to the m23 and therefore gatwick , all the protesting in the world didnt stop it happening , me and my dad even tried slowing there progress by sabotaging there machinery at night and made notes of where birds were nesting to try and appeal against it happening but they just destroyed the lot , every damn bit of it.

This was 25 years ago now and all ive got left is a foggy childhood dreamlike memory of the place with no photos or pictures to ever fully recall on

So i really feel for these people and others that this happens to . Land is dissapearing fast and their not gonna make more of it :(

Whilst it isn't ideal, it could be a hell of lot worse. They could put a road through the lake - that's not uncommon. And in that part of the world is train noise so bad ? Ask anglers fishing at Horton or Wraysbury about noise - they're right under the runway approach to heathrow.

Tony, one mans gain is usually another mans loss. I note you give your location as Crawley, I used to fish where the huge housing estates are now located.
