A12 lakes in chelmsford

Hi rebz7,

Sorry I have not fished there in ages, and although lacking in the wilderness look, peace, quiet and tranquility for the angler the fish are well used to a bit of noise, so unless you really clump around the bank you should have a good day.

Forget the view as if you are fishing seriously you wont have time for the view, I would fish facing either the sun or South (London) direction as much as possible and if memory serves me well it can get more than a little windy there, so a brolley is handy to keep the wind off.

I used to favour white maggot, corn and bread on those lakes at this time of the year but after this winter I would probably take some lobs with me.

NOTE: I am not a Carp Angler so if you are then have a word with your secretary and/or the local tackle shop.

thanks for the info watatoad! How does pellet or boilies work over there?

Sorry I never use pellets or boillies except when rod testing with my mate Clive so I have no idea, be nice to know how you got on.

Watatoad inside you must be a "Carper" waiting to breal free. Release your inner "Camo Man" and embrace Carp fishing and all it's new fangled baits, trinkets and toys.

Pellets and Boilies are the future :D , well the present actually.

Stephen

Funny you should say that, as I have a few good sets of camo gear from a Daiwa Mission Advantage, through a few unusual sets, past a couple of rather nice sniper sets to a more general military set...hehehe

I have when fishing with Clive used boilies and pellets and personally I think they are a total waste of time unless you are fishing at a commercial where they have become the normal food for whatever species in the lakes I still have 3 large carrier bags full of pellets and boilies,

Do I have Carp rods...???...does a squirrel poo in the woods...from three specialist handbuilt rods to some handbuilt Bruce and Walker rods to three brand new ABU Carp rods to a pair of Leeda Carp rods that came complete with Leeda reels and I have not even put a line on them yet and the Leeda's will be going up for sale in March as they are wasted on me.

A friend even gave me a rod pod and an unhooking mat for my birthday.

Naturally I have done some Carp fishing although the current style of Carp fishing lacks something for me...perhaps I have a very low boredom threshold. Now specimen Carp that is a different thing altogether and no I would not be using pellets or boilies nor would it be on a commercial if I was to go after specimen Carp and it would only be one rod.

Have I worn camo when fishing...erm well not in the last five to ten years, been no need to the river banks are quiet, I am very quiet, the fish are not used to being fished for...easy peasy, especially with the baits I use...hehehe...you will most likely see me wearing a bright red jacket I bought from The Edinburgh wool shop...hehehe or if its winter and not raining a blue heavy knit wool jumper.

Would I wear camo again...that is a puzzler...I guess it would depend on three things 1; I could get to where I want to fish (granted with frequent stops) 2; I could manage to carry my gear which in honesty I must admit is probably about half what most others would carry except hardened specimen hunters 3; I had heard a whisper from a source I really trusted that one of my target fish had been seen.

Bet that has surprised a few
