Transferring CD's To iTunes

I'm transferring my old CD collection to iTunes. Mostly, it's gone fine, but two CD's are crackly. I've tried them again, but still get the same result.

 

Does anyone know a way around this? They seem fine in a standard player, but even playing through the PC, are crackly.

i would say its simply your cd/dvd drive in your pc.

the writer/reader combo's can cause havok with older cd's. ive seen it a few times..

as to resolving it there is little you can do other than trying them in a different cd drive....failing that if they are very old and available then buy them from itunes itself chances are they wont be uber expensive.

Depend on your sound card too. Some sound cards can accept the digital or analog out from your CD/DVD drive. If so that might help.

 

Personally I wouldn't touch Itunes as a media player. I use it because it is about the best podcast catcher out there, but when it comes to playing music or ripping CDs I'd use something else.

What software are you using? I have not met the problem with Audacity yet

Cher and the Pogues? One is 127 years old and the other is alcoholic. I'd suggest the crackles are quite normal.

 

Seriously though....why would you wish to have Cher on any format??

 

I'd rather have diarrhoea, vomiting, weight-loss and malnutrition. I tend to find Cher brings on all of these symptoms anyway but I'd rather not have to listen to her warbles to achieve this level of desperate illness.

 

Cher for Christ's sake. You want looking at Elton.

pmsl at andys comments, anyway. are these cd's copied cd's ? i had found a copied cd from years ago that started crackling and progressively got worse as time went by and it didnt even have any scratches, just crackled a lot till it was only crackling.

Let me guess, Niel Diamond, Cracklin' Rose. Slightly better than different to Cher.

I have a cunning plan. I'm going to try my wife's external CD drive. I need to find out where she's hidden it first, mind you.

 

In answer to questions above - I'm just using whatever the iTunes software is, they are original CD's, and I daren't list anything else in my collection, for fear of Andy actually peeing himself

You mean Cher is not the nadir of your musical tastes? There are darker depths yet to be disclosed?
