Fishing with tinned meat

larsagi: £2.99 for Luncheon Meat ffs ive seen luncheon meat for as little as £0.59 no way could i justify paying £2.99 thats just a pure rip off!

I'm another angler who is willing to pay the extra cash for a meat for fishing that stays on the hook and has far less fat in it and which the barbel seem to find irresistible and I don't really know why anglers are so tight!

 

I have used Dynamite Chilli and Spicey flavoured meat for a few years now and it is a brilliant consistancy for bait and far better for the job than the stuff I can buy off my local supermarket shelves.

 

I use thin slivers or ripped chunks or punched cylinders of luncheonmeat mounted on size 12 to 4 hooks when trotting or legering for Barbel with great success.

 

Plus I can hair rig it without having to worry too much about it flying off the hair during the cast.

I can't remember the last time that I lost the bait on the cast and if I retrieve it to recast it stays on.

I can even just nick the hook into the corner of a piece of meat if I want and be fairly confident that it will stay on the hook.

(However when mounting it directly onto the hook I always leave the point of the hook showing because of its firmness.)

 

It usually ticks every box, unlike most supermarket brands.

So why should I complain about paying £2.99 for a bait that does what I want and ticks all the boxes?

 

However; I still use supermarket bought luncheonmeat and flavour it myself if I need to completely bury the hook in the meat for when I need to drop my bait through the middle of some dense streamer weed and I don't want the hook catching on the weed, but 90% of the time I find the Tackleshop bought meat fine and well worth the extra cash.
