Attaching Hooklengths

It really depends on the type of fishing you are doing.

When normal float or ledger fishing with mono hooklinks and mono reel line ,I join using loop to loop.

When using braid hooklinks to mono, I use a swivel.

Obviously, wire to mono needs a swivel.

I have been using micro swivels for alot of my fishing lately. The reason for this is when you are fishing things like double maggot or caster, it eliminates the twist. Therefore I would say 90% of my fishing is done with swivels.

If you are fishing flowing waters, swivels are certainly much better. Less line twist will result and the bait will twist and turn quiet naturally in the flow.

Also, swivels make it quiker to change your hooklink, without possibly damaging your main line loop knot in the loop-loop method.

I'm using swivels more and more these days, on stillwaters too.

For float, pole and most ledgering in attach it loop to loop.

I use swivels to attached them when ledgering for carp or sea fishing.

Also :

when attaching loop to loop :

pass your mainline loop through the hooklenght loop. then pass your hook throught the mainline loop. pull tight.

This way you get a neat attachment that is 50% stronger than any other way (read in AT I think).
