I would imagine that a lot of revenue is made in catching people in the closed season. If it were abolished, the ea would loose out.

Would they raise licence prices?Or maybee more free stretches goin up fpr sale ?I think there are serious pros and cons to add up on this matter.

am not sure if the question wshould be changed as we obviously dont benefot from a close season, however......... The Fish DO !!!! i am all for a close season, the EA would face a barrage of abuse, letters etc... they cant raise licenses as people simply wont buy them, so they lose out again. They have got a right mix at the moment, and wont feel the need to change anything. The poachers will still be there, still get caught and still get fined, 1 poacher might well be fined as much as the worth of 40 rod licenses, makes sense if you ask me ??

close season on venues is a must, if not to make extra miney then for the fishes welfare, and populations.

there is something said for a close season ,when i was a kid it was time to regrease reels and re varnish rods ,making useless floats out of balsa or straws etc ,then the wait and then the strange feeling as you set out on the first day before dawn with the mist all around ,kids nowadays just miss one day and buy stuff

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

A simple answer to a direct question, no!

As John, Mister Te He Wilson says, 'Personally I think the worst thing we ever did was abolishing the old close season'. I totally, and without any reservation, agree with the great man.

There is no closed season on the Yorkshire mixed fishing rivers. When the game fishing season closes the coarse opens and vice versa so no fish 'benefit' It's all B****x!

I look forward to the 16th....think I'd obey it even if they abolished it!
