Something to be Proud of.

Tomorrow sees the unveiling of the commemorative plaque commissioned by the Barbel Society in honour of its late President, Peter Stone.

It is sited in his hometown, on the bridge across his beloved Thames.

Much hard work has gone into this project and credit must go to Fred Crouch who has undertaken the lions share.

We are extremely proud that this has come to fruition and that there will be a permanent memorial to a very special man.

Steve Pope, Barbel Society Chairman.

Nice one - well done to all concerned. What a nice thought.

Steve, when is your annual Conference? I've received a letter about it, but no dates...

Best wishes,

Elton

Thanks to all concerned - a fitting tribute to a special angler and a special man.

Excellent! Really excellent!!

Perhaps now angling should look at its other great heros. Men like Dennis Pye, B.B., Martin Gay, Frank Barlow, Billy Lane, Bernard Venables, Richard Walker, Francis Francis, Alfred Jardine, Bickerdyke and Fred Wagstaff to name a few.

But yes, Peter Stone was special, and his memory is special.
