First fish of the summer

Recommended Posts

Just got back from my 1st summer session (only 1 and a half hours).

Fished goslings farm at Trimley (top lake) using a peacock waggler, super specialist rod, 8lb main line, 6lb hooklength and a 14 hook in 4ft of water.

On arrival there were fish topping and bubbling all over the place and had the place to myself.

I picked a peg in the corner the wind was blowing into and feed a mixture of 4mm and 8mm pellets three rod lenght out.

Tried several types of 4mm, 6mm and 8mm pellets on the hook but could not get through the roach although I had some nice ones up to half a pound. Tried a 12mm Trigga pellet then half of one without a touch so I tried some paste which also did not get touched. Swapped to a 50pence size piece of breadflake and when the roach left it alone had six crucians up to 1.5lbs.

Tried a monster great piece of flake and wallop - the rod arked round into a nice bend and after a very hard fight landed a very nice Tench that went 6lb 9oz - my best this year.

Happy with this result I watched the sunset as I packed up.

The only dissapointing thing is that now the nights will start drawing in and you can only fish goslings until sunset.

Nice one Rudd :) I'm still waiting for my first fish of the season, I haven't fished for a few weeks now (having a little rest following some pretty exhausting session-type fishing).

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Well done a cracking tench.

The only thing about the nights starting to get longer is when I am out fishing all weekend and fish until dark and again at first light i will have a little more chance of a sleep.

I don't like clubs that ban night fishing although some restrictions are placed by landlords and inevitable. Generally the ones that ban night fishing are run by match anglers who think you should only be on the bank between 8am and 3pm.

good report
