It pays to be vigilant

Had a wonder around a local fishery yesterday evening whilst out on a bike ride.

Nice looking place with only one bit of litter on the bank but no one fishing.

Being a baliff myself I spotted the litter a mile off (ok 70yards) and just had to pick it up and put it in one of the provided bins.

From a distance I thought chocolate bar wrapper.

As I got closer I thought it was a hook to nylon packet.

From a few meters I indentified it as a fiver.

It did not make it into a bin ;)

I did see the fishery owner up near the entrance and for a millisecond thought about handing it in but being that he is also the local tackle shop owner I will be adding a pound to it to purchase two pints of red maggots next week from him!

Then there is the fact that fishery rules say ANYONE found to be littering will be banned for life.

The unfortunate angler may have got his/her fiver back as the owner would know who was in that peg yesterday but would not have thanked me as by dropping the fiver they were technicaly littering!!!

I was a club doorman for more years than I care to remember and I was always on the look out for some coin or chains etc, especially after a scuffle, occassionally a chain would come off in my hand ;):D
