Can I have some help identifying accessories?

Hi all, I ordered a fishing set online to get me started and it has come with no instructions, I have no idea what does what. I have brought a fishing book but I am finding it hard to figure out where to start. I have taken a picture of everything that came with it, perhaps some people could be kind enough to identify some of the stuff.

 

I know 6 is a hook to nylon, but past that I am pretty stuck

1. looks like pellet bands (putting pellets on a hair rig #6 in your pic)

2. looks like a free running ledger ring with a cross lock for attaching weights though i wouldnt attach weights with a cross lock (death rig, weight snags with a fish on and cant be released, paper clip is better for that)

3. not sure. is it like putty ?

4. silicone tube for creating anti tangle rigs

5. ledger boom

6. a braided hair rig for carp or tench

7. looks like little barrel shot (is that the right name for them ?) same as split shot.

8. bait needle for putting bait on to the end of the hair rig in #6

9. weight probably given it in kit to be used for carp

10. same as 2 but with a swivel ?

11. boilie drill, for making a hole in hard baits like boilies, nuts, dog biscuit. used in conjunction with #8

12 ?

 

looks like it all comes together to make a free running ledger rig for fishing for carp

Hi andy, thanks so much for your help.

 

Do you know of anywhere online that explains how to use all this stuff together? I think tomorrow I am going to go down to the lake in sotton and cast out with just the hook strait on to the mainline with bread bait and see what i get, no idea how to use this carp rig.

I use something similar myself, the Korda inserts. I take out the hard plastic one that come with most inline leads and replace them with the rubber ones which hold the swivel better with out needing to push them in hard. They create a good bolt effect but come loose very easy.

2&10 run beads with snap links ,for making free-running ledgers

 

3 pop up egg weights

 

7 looks like a ledger stop

 

12 silicon sleave/tail rubber with accompang run ring (it slides over the thinner portion but not the fat end that the swivel goes into) simular too pic 3 ,and theres a smaller sandy coloured version in pic 1

 

13 diamond eye threader -for pulling line back through the long anti-tangle tubing

 

 

and here is the sort of rigs you can make (some slightly different bits used ,but you'll get the idea .

 

 

 

this uses a small stepped run sleave & a run bead ,the ron bead has a wider bore that fits over the tail end of the run sleave ,the swivel fits inside the fat end too protect the knot joining the swivel too mainline ,I've used a special version of the swivel ,it has a gemini quick change clip fitted but you could just tie the mainline too your hooklength's swivel

 

 

 

 

this uses a run bead on the line that slips over a run sleave/tail rubber ,the swivel goes inside the fat end ,in the pic is a aditional conical tail rubber used too cover the front knot tied too the swivel or knot used too join hooklength too mainline.your ledger clips into the runner bead

 

 

 

run sleave (conical type) & run ring + anti-tangle tubing that slips inside the rear end of the run sleave (its a safe rig , all parts can break away and slide of the line in case of a break ).it creates a semi-fixed bolt rig

 

 

 

pop up weights in action ,used too counterbalance a boyant pop up boilie

Thanks so much for the diagrams, don't fully understand but at least now I can try and build one and see what happens

 

Going to wonder down to the river later (if the sodding rain stops) and have a play!

 

Worst comes to worst I get my first blank

So would the following simple rig work, I have attached the stopper things to make a weight thingy stay in place, then tied on (using half-blood knot) to the ring and the end of the nylon (how the hook came). I have pencilled in where the line is, since it did not show up well.

 

If I am understanding this correctly, it will allow the line to sink a bit, but the hook to drift (with some bread or sweet corn attached to it).

Don't feel bad about the newbie part. I've been fishing for well over 60 years and had no clue what some of that stuff was either nor could I make up a rig using all of those bits without someone showing me how.
