Tried worm and had nothing. spoke to a few people at the lake and they said it was very hard to catch the tench in there

I have found with lob worm and with breadflake that it is best to present the bait on its own without any form of feed whatsoever.

Use a single medium sized prawn either hair rigged or hooked at one end. Chop up another 6 or seven in half fot loose feed - usually works a treat !

On my local still water you have to fish very close in to catch tench. They can be caught in 1 ft of water in summer.

Try red maggots popped up 3 to 4 inches off bottom. Either use a semi fixed 2oz feeder or a two ounce semi fixed lead and a PVA bag full of red maggots. Try a 14 hook with a bit of red rig foam the size of a big maggot plus two real maggots. Magic.
