New East of England angling forum launched

Recommended Posts

Are the trust gluttons for punnishment Leon, seems it was just yesterday when they lost control of their last forum, where their members were revolting. Although good entertainment that was, so bring it on. :)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Lets hope they dont mention the survey of angling catches the angling trust is helping and assisiting to destroy angling as we know it if they had any sense they would be calling for the total elimination of discards that would make more sense than trying work out what anglers catch theynt a clue its people who hook all about what really goes on in our seas.

Anglers catches are a needle in a haystack in real terms to threats to the stocks in our seas.

I have posted the article that Leon put a link up to, because you obviously haven’t even bothered to open it.

Nothing about Sea angling just the environmental agency wanting to have discussions with the 250000 rod purchases that they have in the east of the country. But striate away you are on about commercial fishermen saying that the amount that anglers catch is a needle in a haystack. And saying that they want to completely do away with discards. I think that we all must admit that as much as reasonably possible is being done (at the moment) to try and sort out this problem. The first goal was to recognise that largely because of the quota system there was a problem.

Flapper.

A FORUM to help strengthen relationships between the Environment Agency, the Angling Trust and representatives of the 250,000 rod licence purchasers in the East of England met for the first time on Tuesday.

The inaugural meeting of the Eastern Region Angling Trust Freshwater Forum was held at the Environment Agency’s Kingfisher House in Peterborough.

The purpose of the forum is to promote and protect the interests of anglers and fisheries and share issues of common interest. Members of the forum include representatives from all the local fisheries consultative groups, stretching from Essex to Lincolnshire, commercial angling interests and the Salmon and Trout Association.

An example of the sort of partnership work the forum wants to promote is the ‘Building Bridges’ project which runs in and around Peterborough.  The Agency and Angling Trust employ a Polish angler to work with Eastern European communities to share information about fisheries rules and cultural differences associated with angling, which helps to improve angling for everyone.

When Killer Shrimp (Dikerogammarus villosus) were discovered at Grafham Water, the Environment Agency and Angling Trust, together with Anglian Water Services, worked with anglers to discuss the risk of transfer to other fisheries and the best ways to reduce the risk of spread.

Paul Woodcock, Environment Agency Anglian Director commented: “With so many rod licences sold in this Region, it’s really important that we share information and ideas with anglers and their representatives. Together we can improve angling for everyone and balance this effectively with the needs of other river users and the environment.”

Kelvin Allen, Angling Trust Regional Forum Chairman said: “This recognition of localism further demonstrates that anglers working in partnership together can make a difference, for the benefit of all.”

Issues covered at the first meeting included fisheries enforcement, investment in projects to improve fisheries and the maintenance of rivers.? ?The intention is for meetings to be held every two months. A meeting open to all anglers is being planned for later in the year, which will feature invited guest speakers on a variety of angling topics.

In the age of austerity, both the e a and the trust decided the importance of employing a polish angler, the reason being was the e a paid the trust 30,000 of taxpayers and licence payers money for the privilidge. Is there something of more merit worthwhile to both spend this money on and better, spend effort and time within the fishing community rather that ensuring one section remain within the rules.

The concern is the trust moving away from angling and are chasing funding from various ngo's. This in turn makes them constrained to comply with the whishes and the wants of these ngo's.

The rsa section of the trust is run and managed by one guy who's wages are being subsidised by a conservation charity for example.

there is funding from defra avalible for the trust to set up sea committees to liaize with ifca's however that one is doomed.

The next big one is governent funding for the adb.

Yet 10 quid of the individuals annual joining fee is diverted to the legal arm of the trust.

How many of these 25,000 licence holders are trust members, are the trust targetting these anglers to bring them into their org to govern them with the help of the e a, is that the objective.

Anyone got any idea of the amount of individual members. At the last count put into the public domain it was around 13,000 that was from the days when the org amalgamated, nothing confirming the amount has been released since. Someone telling us different would be nice.

To tell you the truth I have seen tax payers money spent on things a lot less important.

Big cod has a point, whats important one section of anglers who all they require is to read the rules like the rest of us, print out a few posters in polish, or get our goverment to offer interpretation like they do for the rest of the migrant community. Or fish stocks, ohh i forgot 30,000 is not to be sniffed at.
