twitchandjerk:

Why not go for a baitrunner if you are after carp ?

I have that Okuma Undertaker baitrunner mentioned above - brilliant for the price. Also perfectly good for general floatfishing, spinning etc.

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.

They allow you to leave the spool on the reel free running without taking off the bail arm. It stops CARP from ******* off with the rod when you walk away from the swim whilst leaving the rod and line in the water!!

The reels are one of my BEST sellers!! And I think come with 3 spools.

If you fancy one with just the one spool and a size 50 reel from a different maker??(BIT bigger than the 30 size advertised) I will do it for you at £15 delivered?? Or I have LOADS of reels with spare spools at around £20 delivered.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

listen if you have just started fishing forget all this " i want to fish for carp therefore i need a baitrunner" nonsense. you can fish for carp using float fishing tactics as long as it has a decent clutch.

take a look at this.

Not sure as i don't own a okuma but i do have a shimano and i have a shimano stradic but that may be out of your price range, mind you you could save up for one they cost about 80 quid. shimano reels are amongst the best you can buy IMHO. i think you should think about what type of fishing you want to do and again only my opinon, but stepped up float fishing can be productive for carp up to and including 10 pounds. Only if you plan to soon start fishing for fish of 20 pounds or so do you need specialist carp gear like the bait runner reels. considering your age and the fact you have only really recently started fishing i would leave the big carp alone until you have become proficient in general fishing. to be honest i tried big carp fishing and have found it a bit boring, and expensive. Only my opinion you understand keep asking questions here and at your local tackel shop. good luck.
