I've shoved my finger into countless chubs throats waiting for this crunching bite and it's never happend

I've even put my finger in and had a good feel of the teeth and they're just small bones coverd in flesh or that's what it felt like. Personally I think it's an ols wives tale.

always a little "what if" when im sticking a thumb in.

are they actually strong enough in say a 10lb carp to do some damage ?

if a carp can eat a air dried boilie ,just think what it can do to your fingers or thumb, alot of people think theve been snapped at the hooklenght but it could have easily been a fish taken the bait back in the throat and bitten off,i have a pair off a 18 pounder ,there nasty ,makes me cringe thinking about it

Tigger, believe me, Chub can give you a severely squashed finger tip. A 4pounder got my index finger once.............. As for holding a carp with your thumb in its mouth, never felt the need, and I have caught a few thousand :)

Den

"When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul..................
