I don't know the popularity or availability of Shimano in the UK.

 

I believe it was last year they came out with a dandy. Unfortunately I'm not a reel guy so I don't know the model or actual size and price. Just bankside banter was bragging on them "for the money".

Shimano reels are very popular over here and available in every tackle shop or on line store. However I have not heard very good things about some of the latest cheaper models and to be honest they do not look the best. I bought one the Limited Edition small RE5000 about a year ago and it's not a patch on the standard 5000. A lot of anglers seem to look out for older second hand Shimano reels instead of buying the newer versions.

Look at the Okuma range... they're competitively price - although exchange rates have moved them upwards, antd they're reliable.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

I use a small Trabucco Xanthos baitrunner reel, cracking reel, small but very well made10 ball bearings and line capacity from 10lb-12lb and 15lb, the spool holds 195.The 10 pound line has a capacity of 195 and the 12 pound 143.

 

Comes with a spare spool. I have done a search but cannot find any on the net ??
