A strange first post me thinks :rolleyes:

 

Surely untill its been acepted as both a true crucian and a new record then the title is also wrong? as untill then the existing record stands.

Maybe it should read: Possible New record Crucian carp record depending on how accurate the two sets of scales turn out to be (9 drams), and if enough evidence of the fishes pedigree has been obtained to satisfy the committee :D

 

I for one gave up long ago with record fish sizes including club records. Infact on occasssion when asked by new members 'Whats the biggest carp caught out of here?' I do enjoy telling them 25lb but you wont catch it - it died last year :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

That's always fun :D

 

But I tend not to pay any attention to the sizes people claim. How many times have you had people come up to you and claim they go to 40lb in here mate and when you ask whats the biggest you have seen. "Well I have had them to 20lb" If asked did you weigh it "No but it was easy a 20" So take 2 to 5 pounds of the guesstimation so in my mind they most likely run to around 16/17lb :D

 

But sometimes it's the other way around and you get the story there are no big fish in here mate just because they never catch them. "the owner sells them as soon as they get to 20lb" :rolleyes:

On the subject of "specimen" chasing. Driving about the country on fishing holidays I often would stop by a marina or local bait shop for information. They serve as information centers too. Anyway, my point is, you can't believe how many 100 lb carp lurk around ever marina in America - just ask. I've never even caught a 40 from a marina. To many tiddlers hang out for the freebies. (Actually not freebies. The marina charges $.25 for a handful of floating dog food so folks can feed the carp.)
