Those derisory fines almost make it worth the risk for some people. The magistrate ought to be ashamed.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

Those fines are unbelievable !!

I thought it was £2k, no arguments !!

Considering I have been asked for my license once in 26 years of fishing, it would be worth the risk not buying one. Not that I would condone or do it, but you can see why some people do.

This country ......

Community punishment orders for burglars. Already pathetic prison sentences with half the time served in the community. No, New Labour tough on crime...I don't think so. Whats it going to take to get ordinary decent people to stand up and say enough is enough...This is what we want! Only to be classed as a right wing fascist by the bloody do-gooders, but then again they don't have to live near them do they.

BY the way the persons with their name in print are already likely to be suing the newspaper for the distress caused by intrusion of privacy from the article.

Blimey it's high here up on me soapbox!

I think if you look again you will see that this info is on the E.A. Web site, a Government agency, sue, I don't hold out much hope.

I think people that even suggest scrapping fishing licences , should be fined £2000.

Its pretty obvious to me, that these sort of people have latent criminal tendencies.
