Short Session Tactics

Being a new dad i now get little time on the bank, at best short 6 or 7 hour sessions. ive also been away from fishing for years so the odds are stacked against me.

 

I fish a few small lakes owned by my club (watford Piscators) which are by the sounds of it relatively well stocked.

 

What tactics would you use to increase chances of snatching a bite?

if it was me i would use some bread or dog buscuit from the surface on a calm day and if u can get regular pellets of groundbait to a secluded area then wen u can get a session u can try to get the area u prebaited. if thats not possible just try to fish where ppl are leaving and ask them wat they was using and try to match it so ur fishing over the same bed of bait with the same bait.

I took your advice to jasont and looked at the article offerings.

 

"SNAG FISHING FOR CARP" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (gulp!!)

 

This is the scariest title in the history of UK/European carp angling should an unsuspecting Yank read it. We do that you know? Snag carp (with a snagging hook).

As a species common carp most often will FIRST select some combination of the attractant capsicum (often available as a hot sauce) and fishmeal (usually from powder of 70% protein if possible) which is their most natural instinctive food source. As for presentation, rod and reel, etc. I haven't a clue for what the watercraft on your lake(s) might be. Capsicum is most effective if only one angler is using it as it is a very long range attractant and carp can become confused it it is coming (available) from more than one direction.

BTW, the very best source of natural betaine is baby puke. I 100% PROMISE you will catch carp on any bait made with baby puke. And it doesn't take much. (I don't use the word "best" loosely). Betaine is rarely available in its natural state and never commercially.
