Carp fishing on silt

What is the best rig to use, when fishing for carp on silt? :confused: :confused:

but don't forget that carp being carp they like a good grub around so actually fishing IN the silt can result in action too when all else are blanking ... just keep away from nasty smelling silt, coz so will the carps

just how far are you casting to the silt ? both a float and freelining can be very effective if you don't ned to cast huge distances, as theres no bloody great lead to drag the bait down into the silt.

Damn good! It's at close quarters where it's crap! But why fish at 120 yards? I know its fashionable but whats wrong with the fish under your feet? And anyway, hop in a boat & go closer!

 

True story coming up, as they do!

Went carping with my Grandson & his Dad the other day, to a 'carp puddle'! The regulation carpies, all fashionably attired, were there, all fashionably fishing at distance. I'm sure that you can guess the outcome without me telling you! On a ten foot float rod, in the margin, on a float(!), one very proud seven year old! Biggest fish of the day at 15 pounds!!

Twas a joke Peter. Fact (apparently) : most carp can be caught within 30 yards of the bank... and yes, the margins are often marginalised
