The changing face of fisheries management.

Back in the day it was a case of wading through mud and shivering beneath a brolly as the rain pelted down.

Recently I had the pleasant experience of being greeted by the fishery manager and being handed a hot cup of coffee on arrival (admittedly it was a trout fishery).

Selling hot sandwiches and cups of soup is one way of boosting income and enhancing 'the fishing experience'.

But this seems to be a different league altogether!

He wants to sell wine and bottled beers to customers at the restaurant, which will specialise in fish dishes.

And he says the music licence is for a baby grand piano to enhance the dining experience.

The restaurant will be able to seat 85, and will include 200-year-old pews from a Manchester synagogue which Mr Kershaw picked up from a reclamation yard.

Just as well, I couldn't see it going down well with some of the match lads that I know. :drunk:

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Leon,

See Elton's new thread on the subject. How about a glass of white wine and "baby grand piano music"?

Maybe the guy applying for licenses in the thread Elton posted is legit? Sorry, I'm not looking for white wine and dinner music when I go fishing.

Do you think your "experience" was truely boosted? Maybe? I like the marketing and convience however. Maybe?

Phone

No, not really!
