There is nothing new about the concept. Never heard of catherine leads?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

These are the ones I use. I don't know of any others and I don't need to as they do what they're supposed to... pin your line down. Sometimes I use two per rod. I'll place one on the line before I cast out, once I've done that I'll put a 2nd one on, depending on the water I'm fishing of course.
