Bailiffs target organised poaching groups using huge nets to strip fish from River Nene

Recommended Posts

The Whittlesey Angling Association (WAA) believes groups of poachers scour the River Nene to stock up on fish.

They claim gangs fish without a licence, illegally use nets and unlawfully fail to throw fish back into the water on a 15-mile stretch of the river.

err is it a trawl net or a drift net .

simple to stop its called the EA doing their job ,if its also a club managed stretch i'm sure they can dip into their funds and pay a few bailiffs to patrol at night

Oh it's a nasty racist fishing club.

I thought for a moment that the EA had admitted that it's hapening.

"some undoubtedly foreign " isnt racist when 1 in 10 people are

in 200 people stats say 20 will be foreign ,not easy to prove but unless you catch them all and find out just as hard to disprove ,perhaps the EA are afraid to catch anyone incase "race" is mentioned in the charge sheet and eventually the court

whether the EA will ever say it is doubtful being a gov department they are just as afraid of a backlash as the rest are

The ET also printed a "Factfile" on several reported poaching incidents over the last month, where the culprits were almost certainly foreign nationals.

These people were setting longlines as well as using nets, so the fish were obviously being caught to eat (one group was even caught setting up a barbecue).

On the other hand, there was a group of English crooks from Boston, who were setting nets in local pits and stealing the fish to sell for re-stocking purposes.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.
