Which Rod For Christmas

Newton1

Recommended Posts

I used to fish a year or so ago but i havent been for a long time , im a 15 year old lad and i dont really now that much but my dad used to fish at my age and when he comes im sorted because he knows the basics ( enough to start me of )

Anyway , i used to have a farily decent rod i bought of a friend of the family but unfortunatly that got snapped in my garage ( never let a hyper 6 year old in your garage when you have fishing gear in their ! ) Anyway as its approaching christmas and i thought id ask mum & dad to buy me a rod and they agreed , obviously not going to go crazy and spend £100's on a new rod i was looking at the £20-40 mark.

I already have a small whip (2-3 meters) that i used for this specific spot but i would like a new rod to use , im not looking for any thing amazing just something decent enough for my particular use , which will most probably be a section of the river a few miles away from me ( £5 a year for juniors is a pretty decent deal ) Im looking for a decent enough rod to use for coarse fishing , im not a fan of poles as im pretty weak and its uncomfortable for my arms and legs , im really going to target your ' average ' size fish (bream, chub, perch etc ... ) so obviously a carp rod wouldnt really meet what i would like.

I already have gear than your average begginer ( got a lot of it cheap and free from friends and closing down sales etc .. ) i have a seat box , landing net , unhooking mat and all of the littler things ( hooks, weights etc .. )

Ill also be needing a new reel ( again the 6 year old cousing broke it :( ) so all in all for the rod and reel id be maybe looking to spend £40-60

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Newton.

Newton,

Hey! Welcome.

See over under your name. You can put where you are from in your profile and it will appear there (you don't have to say exactly if you don't want to). You just watch. This site, AN has lots of VERY experienced anglers. If they know more about "where" you are fishing, they will know more what to tell you. If you are "close enough" you might even be able to "meet up" and pinch a few tips from them.

Good luck, angling has served me well for a looooong time.

Ok I asked as I could most likely sort you out some sensible gear at an equally sensible price.Been easier if you had been closer but can send you a few photos/suggestions if you want?

You cant recieve PM's yet but if your interested email me at - budgieburgess55@ntlworld.com

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

If I were you I would bite Budgie's arm off. He will see you right and at the best price you will get anywhere. ;)

If you are not too far from March, get your Mum and Dad to go with you to Mill View Tackle. They will sort you out with what you need, and will also be able to give you advice on local waters. Parking is pretty good near the shop too. Great tackle shop:-

Budgie will sort you a good setup out either way.
