Hot dog sausage

Pangolin

Recommended Posts

I know I've posted about this last year but, for the benefit of those who didn't read it, this has to be a bait to try. I break off a piece of sausage about an inch and a half long, hair rig it with a baiting needle and secure it with a short length of grass stalk through the loop. A tin of sausages costs as little as 19p and is good for a day's fishing. On Sunday evening I had fifteen carp, ten of which took pieces of sausage, while the others were caught on floating bread. Magic!

You meet all kinds of animal on the riverbank.

very good carp bait, I slice the skin off. Those little cocktail ones work well too....

Can't beat the old pepperami IMO though....

I remember when sausage meat was the number 1 Barbel bait, no reason why it still would not work its just a form of paste anyway.

I too have had lots of fish on hot dogs. the cut up into easy to hook rings. I use a size 12 hooks and a bit of grass to hold it on. Best for fishing in the margins with a quiver tip IMHO.

Dales and BoozleBear, if you knew what was in those things, you wouldn't be tempted to eat them! What do you get for 19 pence a tin? Mechanically retrieved meat, all the grotty bits blasted off with high-pressure water jets and turned into a pink slurry. Have a look at the label - there's not much pork involved.

I agree it's a great bait, though - leaves a lovely white fatty trail in the water! :D
