Personally, I'd use a van and insulate the sides.......

There are a lot of views from a cardboard box to an insulated van. This is what the fens can do it can make you disillusioned walking down the bank you could bump into anglers fishing from the back of a van to fisherman fishing from a cardboard box (probably a lidle one). Many go for a walk and are never seen again. :crazy:

I gave up winter bivy fishing years ago, the results V time on the bank just do not weigh up for me. So happy to restrict myself to day sessions. I get by with just 2 bivys a large double as I like my room and choose swims accordingly and a simple day shelter both run of the mill pop up Fish-Tec ones.

I goota say that those TFG pop up single Bivvies look nifty. A handy little bivvy that reall does take a minute to put up and down....

Yeah I like them but they are not the stongest of constructions but the ease with which they go up is the main attraction to me. The day shelter really does go up in under a minute, bought with OBH in ind as I tend to go on days when it is hammering it down and don't want to waste time in the rain. However, not sure they would do well on the wind swept Fens.

How many have fished the Fens or have really put it to the test. Every test you see on the manufacturer’s website or on u-tube is always put up on a nice calm sunny day...LOL

I really do not think there is much between any of them unless it’s Johns Cardboard box's and Ken has lost the plot anyway :blink:

Dave if you really intend to return to the fens for a winter campaign then you need a pram hood style bivvy, 1 man or smaller.

 

The pramhood style are very strong in the wind.

 

There are many makes all similar and most made in china.

 

I also have a korum mk2 shelter which is even smaller. mainly in depth as it will hold a bedchair. The depth is the problem on fens swims.

 

Most ordinary one man bivvies are 2.3 metres deep.

 

I have a maver which is about 1.6 but the korum is less I think 1.2.

 

I have a 2nd skin for my maver although I always have the front open even in the coldest weather. The only time I drop the front is when its driving rain. Korum do a 2nd skin as the main shelter has no front. I will buy this soon.

Wind resistance and strength are important and you cannot beat these style of sheters/bivvies.
