Flow rate too fast.

Ive had a pump given off a friend and have finally got it working. Trouble is it's like niagra falls. Any body know if it's possible to slow it down without damaging the pump?

Most pumps have a "restrictor" somewhere in the system, usually a tude that you turn to block the flow of water either in or out.

 

Failing that, install a tap somewhere in your outlet pipe so that you can adjust the flow rate to suit you.

Tyke has a good point, but as MrWiggly said a flow tap on the outlet pipe will work and will not damage the pump.

Try putting a light bulb in series with it.

Try different power light bulbs and you may end up with an illuminated display to look at.
