Note To AOL Users

As part of their plan for total world domination ™, AOL appear to be completely blacklisting emails from various ISP's lately. As you will see from the following thread, that includes the one that hosts this site:

http://forum.xcalibre.co.uk/showthread.php...79&referrerid=0

The guys at xcalibre are on the case, but are one in a long list of ISP's suffering at the hands of AOL.

If any AOL user needs any facility on this site that requires an automatic email (i.e. password retrieval), can they please email me - mailto:elton@anglingsites.comelton@anglingsites.com

Far be it for me to say which ISP anyone should choose, but certain ones not only block your access to major parts of the www, but now censor your emails. Any complaint sent by AOL users to AOL about not being able to receive emails from Anglers' Net would help the cause

Tight lines,

Elton - our name for the ISP is more descriptive than yours. Spelled differently but pronounced the same.

My wife cannot e-mail her father in the USA because they won't accept emails from our ISP because they claim it's 'open relay' (which I think means people can use it to do remote spamming). The reality is however that my ISP has huge numbers of checks in place to stop just that, but because they have chosen to go a different route to prevent it rather than what AOL have decided is the way to go my wife cannot contact her father.

I got this from the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit:

We have difficulty sending emails to aol account holdres from our main

computer system.

!!!!!!

I've also had some others contact me, saying that emails they have sent me have bounced because of the large number of complaints from AOL members about emails originating from 'that server'.

Strange thing is, the next email gets through!

I suspect a glitch in their spam reporting system (AOL users can hit a Report Spam button).

Not sure if it applies only to broadband users, but AOL forced me to download the Microsoft patches to protect against the recent spate of worms, and then made me download and run McAfee's stinger to remove any nasties I'd been infected with.

I guess that their heart is in the right place!

Seems that AOL can't be getting many queries on this, their Technical support agents don't seem to be particularly aware of a problem!
