PC emulators for a Mac

Recommended Posts

It looks as if I will soon be forced to use a Mac at work. I've tried to use other people's machines but I usually end up staring blankly at the screen, wondering where the hell the stuff I was working on has suddenly disappeared to. Then there's that horrible mouse with only one button...

I've heard about software that can make a mac operate like a Windows PC, but what does it do for you? Does it provide you with a recognisable directory structure, similar to Windows Explorer and does it get rid of that Apple toolbar at the bottom of the screen and replace it with XP-type menus?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I hope to god there's something. I'm starting to understand how my dad felt now when he bought his new telly - the first he's ever had with a remote control, never mind one with an on-screen menu system.

Mac OS X is not hard to use. If I spent 10 minutes with one, one would have it licked in 10-20 minutes. IF your work has Intel based Macs there is a free tool from Apple that will enable a Mac to dual boot Mac OS and XP, it is called Boot Camp, but if I were running your IT department I would not install it for you, the time and effort would be better spent training you on Mac OS. Plug any 2 button or scroll mouse into a Macs USB port and it will work just like an XP mouse. I do that with my Mac.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

The main problem I have is that I use a lot of archived material, all of which is located within a Windows file structure. I also use a lot of pC software, including an Access database. I also rely heavily on Paint Shop Pro, which I find infinitely more effective for finding photographs than Photo Shop. I just have this horrible feeling that I will end up doing even more work at home in the evenings than I do now, just so that I can do it on a PC.
