I think they have more slime in still waters as they are more likely to encounter the slimier anglers like Budgie, Anderoo, etc when they're after Pi$$wings and catch a 25lb bream by mistake, chucking it back in as a nuisance fish :P

water quality is a definite factor in how slimy a fish will be. for example the roach i caught from the canal that i now have in my aquarium were very slimy. now a year on they have practically no slime at all.

ph is 6.2 - 6.5, ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm and nitrate 20-30ppm.

Thanks guys, As much as I'm not particularily a fan off bream, that's good news as is easily my pb! Shame I didn't have scales with me, didn't think I'd need em for a quick session down the canal. Doh!!

i do that a lot, with my camera though. scales are always in my tackle box.
