Daiwa TDR Rig line 1lb pigtails when tied

wondering if anyone has ever used this line in 1lb BS and managed to tie a size 20 spade end with a hook tyer without it pigtailing

i can manage it with an eyed size 20, just. the larger lines such as 4 and 6 tie no problem with hook tyer or by hand. major pain in the ass to get the 1lb stuff right.

fantastic line despite the 1lb being tricky to tie.

any tips? i lube the line and try to make the coils as loose as possible to stop it overly gripping the line before the knot fully forms but still no go.

maybe time to ditch the 1lb and go back to maxima 1lb ?

Your pulling the line to tight when spinning the hook tyer.

I have found any 1lb or below lines do this if you tie to tight.

tried doing it loose

Have you tried releasing the hook from the clamp before tightening everything up?

always

i guess the 1lb stuff is just rubbish for tying. i tied the 1lb maxima no problem, brilliant stuff. can never get it though as the shop always runs out of it <_<

If you tie them on by hand with the right knot all the spare line is pulled through and then cut off.

I've always known it as a whipping knot - but can't guarantee that's the correct name.

i even tried a domhoff, but with a size 20 & 24 i think id rather stick pins in my eye.

dont get me wrong though if tied correctly the 1lb stuff is bomb-proof. i pulled up a bin bag from the depths yesterday with it.
