I know that places in Australia have been frequent visitors to the "world's highest temperature today" map on wunderground.com and I imagine folks living at that place would have been happier not to have been featured.

Pretty mild here so far with only a few days when temps have dipped below freezing at night.

I guess the two typhoons nibbling at the E & NW coasts of Australia have cooled things down for them for at least a little while. They weren't the hottest place on earth today.

And again

Good old Marble Bar; it has the world record of 120 consecutive days over 100 F.

Wyndham, another 1000 km north has the world record of 333 consecutive days over 90 F.

Incidentally, the "marble bar" at that place is red, white and black jasper.

Cyclones in the southern hemisphere, Newt.

Both cyclones are well off shore so there is no damage except the eastern one has caused a few beach erosions with the big swell generated.

And...it has given us in central coastal Qld a nice drop of welcome rain, about 120 mm (4 inches) over the last 2 days. :clap2:

It has lowered temps; we were getting 34 C all last week and the last 2 days have been 27 C, but raised the humidity to 90%
