Printer Help - Desperate!!!

Elton

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can help.

Colour laser printer at work giving me grief, so I thought I'd use the freebie I got when I bought a scanner.

It's a Xerox Docuprint M760.

I'm on Windows XP and the driver comes with XP. I checked the Xerox site for a new one, but they say use the one on XP.

Every time I want to print, the printer first feeds through a blank sheet.

Then the red paper feed warning light comes on.

You press it and it loads another sheet and starts the print job.

Trouble is, the print is way over to the right.

I've checked obvious things, like the paper is loaded right, etc., but am stuck.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Elton

Dunno,

try uninstalling the printer then reinstalling it?

Sounds,..

technically speaking ,

...goosed :)

Actually.... it sounds like the printer cable.

loose/broken if both printer's aren't working?

try pulling it out and giving it a blow....

i sounds like you have a seperator page enabled ,look in "printers" right click on your printer and go to properties and have a look around at the features etc

look for the paper tray and make sure its auto etc and that the jobs are spooled etc ,if you have default setting use those :)

also make sure that the paper is set at the size your using A4 etc ,had a bit of trouble myself in a text editing suite i set the default to A5 which prompted the printer to use it as default ,as you found it printed everything to the side of A4 (prited A5 on A4 paper)

Liam,

Both PC's/computers are 30 miles apart :D

Tried LPT1 and USB on this Xerox - no joy.

Chesters,

No separator page specified :(

I can live with the extra blank page - it's the printing to the right that's screwing me up. Have a job to do that needs doing by tomorrow.

BTW, it prints to the right in all programmes.

Cheers,

Elton

Sussed it!!!!!

I physically rammed the bloody cartridges over to the right and now they align up and it prints first time.

Who said brute force and ignorance doesn't work with IT, eh? :D

Cheers, guys,

Printer one (the laser) is on my work PC. Printer two (the inkjet) is at home.

Simple, really...just like me :D

All the best,

Elton

PS Got an email here from an Intrepid collector. Busy tonight, but hope to get back to him over the weekend.

thats the usual way ,IT chaps using their head :D i got a 11month old hp 6mp from the skip ,it worked perfectly once the paperclip was removed from the paper path :D:D:D

when i was working at the uni the workshop bought a new laser printer (grudgingly) because i kneeded more dots per inch (at least 1250dpi for the work i was doing) instead of consulting the chap that would use it most ME they went ahead and bought one ,all smiles when it was installed but when i told them it was no good grumblings allround ,it needed the postscript plugin to do what i wanted ,cost them another £300 for it instead of £100 if it was bought with it installed ,typical :D
