Losing Carp

Are you using barbed or barbless hooks, as slackening with barbless will let the fish off the hook, so to speak

keep a tight line and try to stop the fish heading for a snag. Also, when allowed, i always use a micro barbed hook and make sure my lead can eject on the take so i am direct contact with the fish.

Fishing on the bottom with a in line led system... 12lb main line .. size ten hair using 15mm boiles.... fairly new to fishing for the larger carp. thanks for the advice so far.

Did you lose all three on the same rig?

Did you change the rig after the first / second loss?

If not I would think you had a turned over hook point and were merely pricking the fish instead of hooking them.

Modern chemicaly sharpen hooks are very sharp but the down side is the hookpoint can get turned over (bent) very easily.

Waggy, its the solid line after the fish that got off that puzzles me. That suggests that the hook was attched to or stuck in something, even if you could not find a snag/weed there must be something in the water and so I assume the fish must have gone in to the weed/snags and transfered the hook. There are lots of reasons for loosing a fish, but something needs to be attached to keep the line solid. any chance the lead got stuck in mud/silt?
